My mate onboard was Chuggy or Hugh Cowey from Glenboig in Glasgow I was the motorman they only carried one. If you know Chuggy or can contact him please let me know. A late response to Merchant 42 I've only just joined this site. We've been on some of the same ships, maybe at the same time.

I was aboard M/V Scotstoun as Jun. Eng during a loooong wait to offload Brazilian bagged sugar at Bandar Abbas at the beginning of the Iranian revolution. Then to Marmagoa where we loaded about 25000 tonnes of iron ore, by hand from barges. The Pumpman, Ballast Jack, tried to go ashore while "refreshed" and missed the shore boat entirely stepping directly into the water. I guess he saw 2 boats and picked the wrong one. It was a long while until he surfaced and decided that maybe he better stay aboard. Then finally to Constanta in Rumania where they changed out the whole crew and flew us back to Prestwick where some of the UK AB's were arrested for offences committed before shipping out. The old man on the Scotstoun at the time was a real hardass, he even stopped all the engineers taps for a while because of a few minor overindulgences. After that we were on a daily ration.

Sailed on Norvergia Team as Eng Cadet (George Hay, a great Captain, who use to pour whisky into the water reservoir of the coffee percolator), Loch Maree, also as Eng Cadet. Arctic Troll & Troll Park as Jun Eng

Yes we have sailed together I paid off there, if I remember correctly the Romanian customs insisted that everyone opened their bags !

Yes it was 2 of the AB's that were arrested in Prestwick, they must have got of because I sailed with shuggie on another ship !

The flight home was a cracker it took us 9 hrs to get to Prestwick, I remember that all the luggage was stowed in the middle of the plane where we were sitting !!!
