Hi everyone, it's a lovely day here in Nefyn N Wales, the sort of day when it's nice to be retired especially when the wife is still working so freedom of choice and no nagging, after watering the veg plot I shall then go to the local golf club to vent any frustrations I may have on the driving range, so here's hoping you all have a nice day - stan.

Saturday 20th. Good afternoon from a not so sunny Perth Western Australia, temprature around 20degrees celcius, winter is truely with us.
That's an incredible video of the ship losing it's funnel to a bridge, I just hope the guy running around like a chook with its head cut off is in a hurry to make sure all of his mates get out of the accommodation before the fire really takes hold.

It certainly was a good hit on the bridge. Could you imagine anyone that was on the bridge at the time as I could not work out if it was road bridge or train. They would have wondered what the bloody hell had happened when it started to swing like that. As for the bridge of the ship did you notice that they seem to have blocked the aft part of the bridge out of the picture. As like a lot of others I was trying to see when the bridge crew left it and it would have been in a hurry I bet. What ever possessed them to think that they could navigate under that and it did not look like there was any effort to slow her down either.

GOOD MORNING ALL.
I hope the rain holds off for you Tomrca.
Its minus 1 here with a heavy frost. Just been sitting on our front deck (house )having a fag and watching the dawn. Beautiful clear sky and the horizon a pinkish red colour, with a whitish pale blue topping. Just like the sun rises on the 4 -8 watch. Pity about the cold though. Never mind, waiting for the mate to knock me off. so i can go and get some breakfast.
Geoff

Hi all, another glorious morning here in Nefyn, N Wales, I shall go out in the boat this morning to do a bit of mackerel fishing, as they appear to have arrived in the area in their thousands, and if I catch any they make a tasty meal with new potatoes and broad beans grown in my own garden, the menu does'nt sound much on paper but I find it very appetising, is there anybody else with any tips for a simple tasty easy to cook meal as my wife is still working which means I as second cook and tabnabs have to prepare the evening meal and I'm often stuck for something different, so any suggestions by any budding chef out there would be greatly appreciated. stan.

Thanks Tom, I shall try my very slowly improving culinary skills on that one, by the way I now understand and sympathise with the cooks aboard ship when they got a cob on if someone muttered the words, " who called the cook a c---t,".

We quite like to slice up some onions and put them in a saucepan with a bit of olive oil. Then add some diced up tomato's with a bit of salt and pepper as well as some chilli. Served up with noodles it is real good and as you can see if you are a gardener then it will be a real cheap meal. That is my input for today.

Hi all, overcast, hot, and muggy here this morning, looks as thougth were in in for a thunderstorm later on in the day, thanks a lot for your culinary tips, they are greatly appreciated so I hope they keep coming, having reached the age of 65 without having to do any cooking apart from the occasional boiled egg I am now enjoying myself having a go at different recipes, does anyone know the correct way of cooking the onboard much maligned delicasy of bubble and squeek?, also since I left the merch I have never tasted tripe and onions, as you can gather not very ambitious but one has to begin somewhere.
