Now here's a feast for the eyes, P.S.N>C.'s Panama, the last of three to bear that name. She was built by Fairfields of Glasgow in 1902 . She is shown here during the First World War wearing dazzle camouflage as an Auxilliary transport but for most of the war she was employed as a hospital ship. In 1920 she was acquired by the Admiralty permanently inthat role and renamed the Maine. Still in service during World War Two she was the oldest hospital ship afloat and bore the International Red Cross number 1. She was broken up at Barrow in Furness in 1948. The study was by W. Jeneway.

Hi I joined this site to see if I could find more paintings that my Great Grandfather William (Will) Jeneway painted. It is so nice to see this one that he did. It also looks like the one with the two ships may also have been done by him.

Thanks for sharing.
