look HERE she looks very much the same as HERE
it might clear at least some confusion
A second M.V.Polperro was completed in 1949 in Bristol for the Polpen Shipping Co. of Falmouth but was sold in 1950 and renamed first Benveg and later Sound Fisher. In January 1957 she sank in the North Sea after capsizing when her cargo shifted. Her crew abandoned ship and were all safely rescued. [A full display of the M.V.Polperro can be seen in the Heritage Museum at Polperro]

What is it about those ships that look so appealing to me. Would have been fecking orrible crewing them but they have a sort of real look of a working ship. Makes one realise that we had it bloody good with our ships. Mind you if I would not even contemplate going to sea with the current lot unless so at least ours where also proper working ships as well.

Thats when it was ships of wood and men of steel. LOL. must admit that they looked like real ships , not these blocks of flats they have now.

More to that saying Geoff. When it was wooden ships and men of steel then along came our lot. Then it was steel ships and atomic men. From what I can imagine life at sea now would be summed up in two words. Fecking boring. That is how it was for me on the Southland Star anyway. All push button and lights and sirens with not a trace of comradeship at all as we where all living in isolated cabins. Pined for double accomodation at least with the slight tang of sweaty socks unless sailing with a bloody taff then any ship after smelled like roses.
