as a basic view on the subject as i cannot speak from experience i think that it most certainly no worse than when the urge to abandon the homeland, in addition it must be said that there have been some good developments over the years for ex-pats where social security benefits are concerned and unless the government takes advantage of the the uk/eu divorce to remove these benefits all will remain in status quo

So true Tomarse and our government as well as across the ditch make sure that we access the UK pension no matter how small amount it is. Reason being that in Oz they take 50% of the UK pension from our Aussie one and think that in NZ they take 100% of what ever stumpy gets. Be assured that if there is any way of screwing us to the floor they will come up with it. Mind you unlike most others our UK pension is frozen from the day we access it.
