Got a update today 20/91/16 and now whatever it was for is eating up the disk and keeps hitting the 100% Mark. Doing simple system restore at the moment to see if that will sort it. I will let you know which update number it is as soon as I can get past the freezing up stages

I can only view the site from my phone at present

Your PC should be able to tell you the download number etc.
Should be in your download history.
A restore should sort the trouble .

Recommend you install " Malwarebytes anti malware"
It's free and it should pick up any other add on's that sneacked in
It's free and good program

What I do (speaking as a novice for sure)? Disconnect my hdd and plug in another already formatted and working will fire up the computer. I then once up and running will plug the original hdd in and transfer any files I think I need into a file to hold them in. I then format the original hdd. Turn the computer of and disconnect the new hdd and that leaves the original hdd formatted ready to install windows on it again. Once up and running one can plug the hdd that holds the file with all the info one wants back onto the original hdd. Know it is a lot of stuffing around and quiet certain that others know better ways but this is how I get over these problems. I periodically update critical files onto my standby hdd so that I can switch from one to the other and still have everything on hand. As said? what I know about computers can be written on the back of a penny black.

Booted up this morning and i got a warning Windows detected a hard drive fault repair or replace needed. Backing up now and awaiting word from manufacturer. It also advised me not to use pc until repair or replacement has been completed... So it's back to phone

I have got a new scanner /printer,an HPenvy 4523,and I can't figure out to operate it properly, I can get it to scan and print but I'm buggered if I can get it to insert photo's like my other printers did. I've had a couple of IT men have a crack at it but they have totally failed to get it going like my old ones did. Has anyone got any ideas? I'm one step away from the Looney Bin!
