With apologies to the Site Admin and moderators here, this is just to let members of http://www.merchant-navy.net know that the site is currently experiencing server challenges again and will not be up and running before Thursday morning UK time. Apologies to those affected and thank you for your patience.

;hitco Sadly Merchant-Navy.net was hacked at the weekend and we are experiencing severe challenges trying to reinstate the site. Everything possible is being done to ensure that we are live at the earliest opportunity. Thank you for your patience and once again thank you to the management team here for allowing this update. It seems that we were by no means the only vBulletin based forum to be hacked last weekend. All I can tell you is that "it ain't no fun" trying to repair it. This episode is both very costly and incredibly frustrating. However we believe that there may be light at the end of the tunnel now as we are attacking it from a completely new angle. Just a word of warning to all our members on here: You will be asked to change your password when you are eventually able to log in. This is part of the new security we are putting in place. The good news is that your own computers will not have been affected by us getting hacked.

For what its worth and with respect to all concerned I would be very cautious about comments made on here since these guys are already proven to have easy access to these sites. I would hate to see any more MN sites suffer the same fate.

Sorry to hear your site was hacked, Tony. People will use any excuse for their behavior when the bottom line is they do it just because they can--exerting power and control where they can. Wouldn't happen if they didn't feel so powerless in their own lives. Sorry your site was a target :notme:

Would prefer to go down fighting than succumb to threats from idiots. But that is my personal thoughts so for the safety of the site maybe I had better discontinue being a member as I have no bloody intention of giving up my right to be a fecking racist. Why do not our tech savvy nerds hack their web sites in retaliation. As some one remarked it was probably some lonely sick bugger sitting in his lonely room unable to get out due to being so bloody lazy and living of the public purse that did this. From what I can make out most rag heads are sick of these idiots as well. So think it is just as I said some anus wipe of undetermined creed or ethnic background.

As said if this post worry's anyone then feel free to delete it and there is no hard feelings if it is best that I play the Fitter and Turner trick (make a bolt for the door). Will await either a request to leave or a blank space where this post was LOL.

Thanks Mike and just hope that the bloke across the ditch does not learn our timing for when to duck and weave.
