The term "the whole 9 yards" came from WWII fighter pilots in the South Pacific. When arming their airplanes on the ground, the .50 caliber machine gun ammo belts measured exactly 27 feet, before being loaded into the fuselage. If the pilots fired all their ammo at a target, it got "the whole 9 yards."

Great Ormond Street Hospital, off Russell Square, owns the copyright to Peter Pan and receives royalties from all associated works and performances. Author J.M. Barrie — who had no children himself — gifted the rights to the hospital in 1929.

HiRon..
A banana (the yellow thing you peel and eat) is undoubtedly a fruit (containing the seeds of the plant: though since commercially grown banana plants are sterile. The seeds are reduced to little specks. However, the banana plant, though it is called a banana-tree in popular usage is technically regarded as an herbaceous plant (or herb), not a tree, because the stem does not contain true woody tissue.

And it propagates itself by sending out rysomes from its tuberous roots. I have then growing here and used then for feeding the yearlings when the grass was in short supply, they will fruit but only give small Bobby Bananas. The stems were full of sweet sugary sap and the animals loved them.

interesting facts about Nouméa, New Caledonia

1. A British trader named James Paddon established the first European settlement near what is today the city of Nouméa in 1851. The French established a settlement nearby three years later, and the island of New Caledonia became a French possession in 1853.

2. 98% of the population speaks French.

3. Nouméa served as a U.S. military headquarters in WWII for the South Pacific.

4.The word “Caledonian” is used by the French and others who have settled in the islands. The term “Kanak” is used to designate native residents of this South Pacific archipelago and their culture.
