that's quite a prize for the 18th century reg but then again most poorer families probably wouldn't buy it and the fact that a "group of 5 gentlemen" bought the winner smells fishy to me.

my personal view on lotteries is that they are a covert tax that enriches the operator and distorts the actual amount of money that is put into good use on projects. if the people were taxed instead of having a lottery and just gave everyone a number as a lucky draw winner just how much more wonderful projects could be completed.

very interesting stuff reg, my old uncle keeps a dairy but what a pitty (skoda in czech lol) be didn't start keeping it back in 1955
