Reg, my grandfather died a sea, he fell from the top of the engineroom to the top of a boiler, lay there for 4 hours with broken back.
His name William Dwyer but I don't know the name of the ship. It was in the 1920's and he is buried in Boston, USA. Are there any Cemetery Records
available that keep this information?

Hi Tonydw
I remember doing some work on this gentleman a long time ago, think it was in the old Scouse house forum, I cannot find my old records for that period, so shall have a look for you.

Thank you, Reg for your effort to get information re. my grandfather. Unfortunately I failed to tell you I also had an uncle William, he was an Able Seaman but passed away in Liverpool in the 60's. My father Phillip was the eldest of the Dwyer children; DOB 1900 and William came next about 1903. I assume my grandfather was killed circa 1920's.
Thank you for trying to locate my grand Pa - he was a engineroom Fireman........ I will probably be going to meet him in a few years. LOL

Hi Tony.
Have got a reply from the Mariners House in Boston mass us...........
"We do not have record of anything prior to year 2000 here at Mariners House when it was renovated as an inn for seafarers. I would recommend seeking out the "Mass. Historical Society."
I have made enquiries to "Mass. Historical Society." and am waiting for a reply

Hi Tony,
You could try the MARINE FIREMENS UNION in the US, they may be able to put you on the right track.

Hi Tony, A reply from the above " Firemens Union" There records would not cover this period.
I shall not give up. I have a few things to check out.

Reg.

Hi Tony.
I have received an answer from the "Union".
They would not have records for that period, also they only cover the western States of the USA.
Well back to the drawing board again.
Reg

Reg, I read the Journals from cover to cover. They made a very interesting read, especially the article about the "Skyscraping sailors.
Also the charity appeal for the establishment of a great Sailors Home, do we know if this was ever built and does it still exist?
Thanks for posting that, I really enjoyed It.
